I am an artist working in Elkins, WV. I am a mother to two small children, a wife, a middle school and high school art teacher for Randolph County and an artist. I am always learning and developing as an artist and person. My portfolio reflects this continual development and maturing. It has always been my personal theory that if I have suffered through something that others have too. That commonality of suffering is our bond as humans. Sharing that life knowledge is powerful and important and a two way street. My portfolio is my side of the street. I hope you enjoy the little bits of information I am sharing here with you through my art.
My sister gave me this framed Emily Dickenson poem for Christmas when I was 17. I still have it and I read it often. It is why I make the work that I make and why I live the way that I live and why I teach through my art.
IF I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
